I'm using the discussion board in google and the google documents. The
students love to do their notes and answer review questions in the document.
Instead of having the students review orally we review using the "live"
documents.

I used the discussion board and had the students discuss in the "room". I
had a video that we were watching in class and the students had to check the
board and respond to questions in the "room". The students really liked
doing this. I'm guessing a few CHEATED but for the most part they did a
good job.

INFORMATION:

Well, it is already 2nd quarter for almost everyone. Hope things are going well! We just had our pioneer workshop on Google Tools for Teachers and have another workshop coming up in December if you are interest. See ODIE if you are! We still have room! We are planning to do more Google in the second semester as well.

Just learned a great trick today! The ODIE guys have been busy and made the Upcoming Workshop page an RSS Feed! If you would like to put this on your iGoogle page follow these directions.

You will need to be logged in your Google account then...
Go to https://odie.esu10.org/workshops/rss .
If you are in Firefox, at the top of the page there is a subscription box, you will need to select "Google" in the pull down menu and click "Subscribe Now".
If it doesn't take you to your iGoogle page, go to http://www.google.com and you should see it there.

The Programmers are looking at other places they can make RSS feeds so that our teachers get the most up-to-date information without having to go to ODIE each day.

This website gave me great ideas that students could read their morning message or chart readings together/individually and submit them as podcasting so families at home know about their day. Another great idea is that the teacher could do a podcast of reading a story so it can be heard at home or wherever.

Chicago sits at the mouth of the river that shares the same name. It has a shoreline along Lake Michigan and thus became a major transportation hub for the Midwest as resources throughout the country converged on the city: grain, beef, iron, all were transported to this city. Chicago is the third largest city in the US between LA & Houston with a population of 2.87 million people and covers an area of 234 square miles. The nearest major city is Detroit which is over 225 miles away.
